Why doesn't ENKI allow my application to use as much memory and CPU as it needs, and bill me on whatever it uses?
ENKI's Virtual Private Data Centers are based on
AppLogic, which uses Xen as its virtualization engine. Xen virtual
private servers have a fixed resource (memory and CPU) allocation,
which prevents multiple VPSs on a single machine from interfering with
each other. This allows us to guarantee you the performance you expect
based on your requested resource allocations. You can always request a
change to your VPSs resource allocations, and your bill will be based
on the weighted average of your requested allocation over the month.
What are the LB (load balancer) and f/w (firewall) appliances vendors ENKI uses?
Our LB and f/w appliances are software appliances,
implemented via open source applications, as provided by 3Tera. For
more information, please see the 3Tera website appliance catalog.
ENKI will use these appliances unless our customers' requirements
dictate otherwise. We currently have our own firewall appliance using
software from Untangle.
In addition, we have an active security system provided by Fortinet
in our data center, which uses signature-based exploit denial and email
filtering. We also configure our physical routers, which are supplied
by Cisco and Juniper, to deny known exploits, filter unused ports out,
and limit IP address spaces that can be guessed or attacked.
